Thank you TWAS!

Just a few hours before the end of the workshop we received more great news. The World Academy of Science (TWAS) has awarded us 2000 American Dollars which allow us to refund a good part of the travel expenses of the students that came from abroad.

Thank you Cambridge-Africa Alborada Research Fund

When we are just a few hours from the beginning of the workshop we have received great news. The Cambridge-Africa Alborada Research Fund has awarded us 5000 British Pounds which allow us to cover a big portion of the expenses and slash the fee down to $100.

We are happy to announce that our partners from Spain, “Sayansi R4D: Research for Development” are selecting four students among the participants of our workshop to award them a $100 scholarship that will cover half of their fee.

Fee Down to $200

Thanks to a tremendous gesture of generosity of our sponsors and invited faculty

we have now slashed the fee down to $200!!!!!!!

This is a unique opportunity for researchers in Africa to attend a highly specialized course without leaving our continent. The course is open to researchers from institutions in Africa, with preference to those who have recently established their own research group. We are extending the call for applications until May 20th to give more people the chance of joining us in Western Uganda.

Now Accepting Applications

The Institute of Biomedical Research at Kampala International University Western Campus is happy to host an incredible cohort of faculty from the UK and Spain to offer a workshop on how to use Drosohpila melanogaster to do cheap but high quality biomedical research.

 

The course will cover Introduction to Developmental Biology and animal models; Drosophila as a model system for human diseases; Drosophila Development; Stem cells; From genome to proteome; Requirements of a Drosophila lab; Drosophila genetics; and Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics.

The course is open to researchers from institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa, with preference to those who have recently established their own research group.
